Moving the hand this far inwards positions the elbows such that they can comfortably rest against your torso and also stretches the upper body position slightly more forward. This is both an aerodynamic and biomechanical advantage.

Barends stem from the early days of mountainbiking and are, if required, mounted to the outer ends of the handlebars. From an ergonomic perspective this is a very good idea. In course of time however, as straight bars became less favoured and sales of riser bars increased instead, the bar ends slowly disappeared. Now however, as the rise of mountainbike bars has reduced again and instead the bars have become low and wider, barends make sense again. But with one small difference, we mount the barends inwards of the grips, so called Innerbarends®, that is where the name with the slight contradiction stems came from.

Innerbarends® are a new innovative evolution of the good old barends we know from the early days of mountainbikes, but with a never-before-seen safety aspect. Despite the different hand position, the brake levers always remain in reach. The position somewhat resembles that of an aerobar. The Innerbarends® don’t weigh much, and aren’t in the way, so just give them a try!

The Innerbarends® fit most bikes. They are mounted directly adjacent and inwards of the grips. As most brake levers are long enough that for best brake performance one can and should mount them inboard of the shifter there is usually sufficient space between grips and shifter / brake lever for mounting the inner barends.

The Innerbarends® do not have a specific area of use. They are however ideal for the mountainbike: MTB racing, XC, marathon, trail riding, touring, all mountain but also for Enduro where they provide a perfect riding position for recovery on transition stages. But also on normal bicycle handlebars of trekking bikes or city bikes the Innerbarends® can be very useful.

The future of gripping. After Barends mounted on the outside and elaborately bent, so-called multi-position handlebars, from now on the handle is gripped inwards.

You will immediately notice it during the first test drive. Moving your hand inwards and returning the hand position to its natural position immediately feels pleasant and correct. The neck musculature relaxes, there is a relief of the typical pressure loads on the hand and even the pedalling movement of the legs feels more efficient and lighter. The noticeably lower wind resistance increases speed without further effort.

Existing 710 grips can easily be upgraded with Innerbarends® 410. One part saved and a clean transition from the grip to the Innerbarend. The slightly flattened surface of the grips 702 and 710 additionally increases the comfort at the Innerbarends® grip position.

The pictured grip is not included in the scope of delivery.

More power. More comfort. Less weight.

In other words: 14 watts. Aero position. 39g.

Wide MTB handlebars are good for control on the bike, but bad for wind resistance.

The new, steeper hand position on the Innerbarends® Performance reduces wind resistance, but is less suitable for technical trails.

Perfect when you have a choice.

More comfort.

More comfort is provided by the more relaxed neck muscles and the changed load zones of the hand. This is particularly noticeable over long distances and has a positive effect on performance in the end.

 More power.

14 watts saved with only 39g extra weight. An internal study by SQlab has shown that the power saving at a speed of 36 h/km was on average 5%.

Less weight!

With the new Innerbarends® Performance the advantages of the material "Carbon" are consistently used. The new clamp is designed so that it can be bent open and snaps over the handlebars. This means that they can be mounted or dismounted at any time without much effort.

The carbon fibers are designed in such a way that they surround the handlebars when pulled. The screw clamp with two movable "inserts" keeps the load on the fibers low.
